1. Convention

The Ecumenical Women’s Convention was held in Sibu, Sarawak from the 19th till 21st July 2013. There were 52 participants from East and West Malaysia. The theme was “Embracing Our Migrant Sisters”.

The objectives of the convention were to increase awareness of the challenges migrant women face and that the migrant sisters may experience God’s love through us. The goal was to identify ways we can mobilize our churches to help migrants. For this discussions were carried out among groups from East and West Malaysia.

The facilitators for the Bible studies were Rev. Dr. Sirirat Pusurinkham from Thailand and Pastor Lee Lam Damat from Sibu. Rev. Dr. Sirirat Pusurinkham is also the Asia World Day of Prayer International Committee regional representative. One of the highlights was a trip to the long house. On Sunday we had a worship service using the order of worship prepared by the Fellowship of the Least Coin for ‘Ingathering Service 2013’ with the theme “Into the way of Peace”.

The convention was a success. We hope to further explore ways we can make a difference in the lives of migrant women.

2. Fund Raising

This year the committee decided to sell all purpose cards to raise funds. The fund raised will be used for the Women’s Work Committee’s activities.

3. Asian Church Women’s Conference (ACWC)

The annual ACWC worship service will be held on 19th October 2013. The liturgy is prepared by Kampuchea Christian Council Women’s Desk. The theme is “Family and Gender Relationships”.

We have also planned to hold a seminar on the same day. The seminar topics are (i) effective communication between parents and children, (ii) godly boy-girl relationship and (iii) tips on choosing life partners. The seminar and worship service will be held in CCM Ecumenical centre.
