ACT OF COMMITMENT

President: Brothers and sisters in Christ, this is a day of rejoicing. We have come together to thank God for His faithfulness in providing for our building project. May our blessed communion, born of one baptism and nurtured at one table of the Lord, became one temple of the Holy Spirit as we gather in love.

Chairman of the Building Board: After years of prayer, planning and construction, we are glad to offer to you this building, a labour of love, undertaken to the glory of God. God has richly blessed all who worked on this building.

By what name shall this building be known?

President: It shall be called the Ecumenical Centre of the Council of Churches of Malaysia. It shall stand as a testament of Christian unity, a place for ecumenical activities, and a place to reach out to the community and change lives through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

Congregation: To the glory of God our Father, to the honor of Jesus Christ, His Son and our Saviour, to the praise of the Holy Spirit, we commit this building.

President: In loving memory of those who labored before us, and with sincere gratitude to God’s people whose faith and gifts helped us sustain our project, and for all the churches that share in the ecumenical vision that we should work together to manifest the unity of the body of Christ.

Congregation: Being compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, we do here and now rededicate ourselves to the ecumenical vision our Lord has given to us.

President: We now gladly commit this building to be a place of worship, ecumenical encounter, theological reflection, dialogue and service, that together we shall transform this place for the upbuilding of God’s people in faith, love and
hope.

Congregation: We share this commitment and resolve to work together.

For the teaching and study of God’s Word for Christian nurture
For Christian prayer and worship and fellowship and strengthening the bonds of the one body of Christ.
For the deepening of our sense of unity and for furthering the spirit of goodwill among all people.
For reaching out to all in need, that in our building they shall find spiritual comfort, strength and salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ.
For ecumenical reflection that leads to a united witness of our churches in our country.
For the expansion of ecumenical partnership and solidarity with churches beyond our country.
For God’s constant protection and guidance in every thing we do in this building.

WE DEDICATE OURSELVES TO CHRIST, TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF GOD’S REIGN THROUGH ECUMENICAL SERVICE, IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER , AND OF THE SON, AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. AMEN
