Greetings in the name of the Triune God– Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

The 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches ( WCC) will take place next year in Busan, South Korea from 30th October to 8th November 2013. By God’s Grace we are moving forward on the  journey to be gathered as one fellowship, in one faith and in one common calling to Our God and Saviour. The Busan Assembly is a significant moment for discerning what it means to be the church together in the world for justice and peace.

The Assembly will gather under the theme “God of life, lead us to justice and peace”. This prayer reminds us of the life which we care called, as one body, in serving God’s world so that all may have life in fullness. In visiting member churches and ecumenical partners around the world, I have been encouraged how the theme is inspiring common ecumenical vision. I have encountered many prayers, songs, reflections, books, videos all referring to the theme of the Busan Assembly. At the Busan Assembly there will be a rich  programme of workshops, exhibitions and side events through which to share the many gifts we have received through the ecumenical movement.

Yours in Christ,
Rev. Dr. Olav Fyke Tveit
General Secretary

A prayer on the way to Busan:
On the way to Busan, may we humbly walk with you, God of Life
On the way to Busan, guide us as we gather,
pray and deliberate as disciples of Christ
On the way to Busan, lead us in the way of justice,
peace and joy in the Holy Spirit
