The main contract had been officially extended to 9th May 2012. The contract could not be completed for reasons such as late award of Landscape works, commissioning of TNB sub station. The main contractor had applied for further extension of time of 60 days to 5th July 2012. While delays were unaccepted, the contractor was reminded not to sacrifice speed for quality of work.
The laying of ceramic tiles to the common areas, certain rooms, toilets and staircases; the laying of timber tiles to the floors of the guest rooms and the laying of carpets to the board room, multipurpose hall and general secretary room are the major works needed on the floors. When the fire fighting sprinkler system has been pressure tested for leaks, the installation of ceiling, light fittings, air-conditioning system and related works can proceed uninterrupted. The landscape works had been awarded but contractually, work would take up to early August to complete. Some of the “hardscape” works were being done by the main building contractor to expedite completion of works.
