In observance of the 50th anniversary of Malaysia on September 16th, CCM Youth is organizing a special programme: “ National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.
It will take place at Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam ( Persiaran Sukan, Seksyen 13 Shah Alam, 40100 Selangor) from 3pm-7pm.
The reason for holding this event is :
- Ushering the year of Jubilee This 16 September 2012 marks the ushering in of the 50th Year of the establishment of Malaysia as a Federation. The Bible describes the 50th Year as a Jubilee Year (Leviticus25: 8-55). In that year, land ownership rights are restored to those who sold ancestral land to tide over economic difficulties. Those who voluntarily entered into slavery to overcome financial hardship are also to be set free. The Jubilee is a reminder to all God’s people that God’s salvation includes restoration and release so that there always will be justice, equity and freedom for all.
- As we enter the 50th Year of Malaysia’s existence, the celebration of the Jubilee becomes a powerful reminder to us of what we should seek for our country: food and land for the hungry and the homeless, freedom and hope for the oppressed and weak, justice and equity for everyone, harmony and mutual respect among peoples of all races and religions, righteousness and integrity in government and society, peace and economic prosperity for the nation, and good news for all!
- On 16 September, we invite all Christians in this nation to join us in worship and prayer so that God will indeed bless our land with these things!
The beautiful aspect of the whole event is that CCM Youth has taken responsibility to organize and execute the programme.
It will be an occasion to share in the aspirations of the younger generation as they give prayerful expression to their hopes and dreams for a nation facing challenging future.
CCM Member congregations will come out in full force to share in the time of praise, worship, thanksgiving and the joining of hands to build a just, peaceful and vibrant nation.
This is a personal invitation for you to join us at the event.
It will bring Christians from all the different churches together. It will serve as a witness to our nation that Christians are willing to play their part in working will all Malaysians to promote a culture of justice and peace.
In order to organize a gathering of such magnitude will incur heavy expenses.
Cheques can be made payable to “ Council of Churches of Malaysia” and to be written at the back Jubilee celebration.
We would be grateful for personal donations, and contributions from congregations.
We are planning to charter buses to ferry people from churches, Christian organizations and welfare homes to the venue. Your contribution will help us meet such expenses.
