The CCM participated in a national conference on death penalty in Malaysia, which was organized by SUHAKAM in Kuala Lumpur on 28th June 2018.

The objectives of the Conference were as follows:

1.To maximize the awareness among the participants on the issue of death penalty and right to life.
2.To facilitate the Government’s efforts in abolishing mandatory death penalty; and,
3.To assist the Government in taking effective actions towards legislating effective yet humane sentence in Malaysia’s justice system.
Many religious and civil society groups were invited to participate in the Conference.

The General Secretary of CCM spoke on behalf of the Church of their position on death penalty. The CCM endorses the WCC statement on the matter in March 1990.
