Re: RECENT EARTHQUAKE IN JAVA

Once again the people of Indonesia are subject to the trauma of an earthquake!

We are sad to learn of the most recent earthquake which struck the surrounding areas of Jogjakarta on the morning of 27th May (Magnitude: 6.3).

Over 4,500 have been reported killed and many thousand are injured.

In the midst of such a terrible calamity, we convey our deep and sympathetic solidarity with the PGI and the people of Java.

We realize what an unending challenge it must be for the humanitarian relief church agencies in Indonesia, that even before the post-Tsunami rehabilitation efforts could be ended in Acheh, another terrible earthquake has struck another part of the country.

Christians in Malaysia will be upholding the people affected by the earthquake in their prayers. We shall also seek prayerfully that God will bless all the humanitarian efforts to save lives and rehabilitate those who have been traumatized by the natural disaster.
