Stop the vicious cycle of violence in Israel/Palestine and LebanonThe Council of Churches fully supports the Statements of the World Council of Churches (July 13) and the Middle East Council of Churches (July 14) on the rapid escalation of armed conflict and political tension in Lebanon , Israel and the Palestinian territories. The minority Christian community in those areas affected by the violence, along with the thousands of other innocent people is traumatised by the wanton loss of life and the utter destruction the present conflict is causing. The Council of Churches urges the Malaysian government, to work through the United Nations and the rest of the international community, in order to call on all sides to immediately stop the violence and to seek a multinational platform for negotiation and finding peaceful solutions to the present conflict. As Christians in Malaysia remember the ones affected by the current violence in their prayers, we also stand in solidarity with the Middle East Council of Churches and peoples of other faiths as they engage in peace-building efforts in extremely difficult circumstances. |
